Something super duper exciting happened this week. I went on a tour of the United Nations in New York City. This summer I am an intern at the United Nations and I am working for the Department of Economic and Social Affairs. I’m working on communications and marketing projects that are very cool and interesting. I’m loving it. But definitely, my tour of the United Nations was one of the highlights of my experience so far.
For me, the United Nations is a symbol of diversity and multiculturalism. You can feel it when you come here as well. When you walk through the hallways so many languages are being spoken. People from all over the world work here and its pretty coool.
I’m holding my United Nations badge. Its pretty special because it enables me to have access to the UN administrative buildings. Honestly, the moment I got my badge was one of the best moments ever. Dream becoming reality.
This is the Security Council Room! I just felt powerful being in there. So awesome. Imagine the number of decisions that are made in this room. How much history has happened here. Very cool.
My friend and fellow intern Francois (guess which country he’s from) and I with “fake version” of the Secretary General himself Ban Ki-Moon. Word on the street is that previous groups of interns had a photo op with him so…we’ll see what unfolds. Hopefully, our group will be lucky to do the same!
General Assembly room! It even looks better in real life. Its very magestic and grand. It was truly remarkeable.
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND everybody to take a tour of the United Nations. Its a beautiful building and our world would not be the same without. A symbol of diversity and multiculturalism.
