A Magical Cup of Tea

April 15th, 2012

I love tea.  There is something absolutely magical about having a warm cup of tea. When you get up in the morning. After work. Before bed.  Tea is great anytime, anywhere, any season.

I honestly believe that  money may not buy happiness but I can buy a cup of tea and that is close enough for me.

I’ve learnt so much about the world I live in by having conversations with wonderful people over cups of tea. So I began to think: what if a cup of tea had the power to change perspectives?

So Imagine if one day all of us HAD TO sit down and have a conversation over a cup of tea with someone that was completely different from us. Someone that had a completely different story.  Someone from a completely different background, history, and way of thinking from each of us.

And in this imaginary world all conversations would be governed by two rules. Rule 1: Seek first to understand then to be understood.

Rule 2: Treat others  way you would like to be treated.

Imagine how much more different our world would be after a day like this.  We would take the important to understand each other as opposed to judging. We could take the time to gain a different perspective and truly understand it as opposed to dismissing it. We could learn from different instead of fear it.

I have also realized that conversation + tea= powerful. With these two rules, tea is magical. It has the power to  provide us with new perspectives. It has the power to sit down and understand thoughts different from our own. Honest conversation is one of the most powerful ways to understand difference and a cup of tea helps us get there.

Just imagine how much more understanding there could be. All with a magical cup of tea. Because Tea is the Key.
